Firefox Change Download Folder Location

This guide will show you how to change the download folder location in Firefox. If you don’t want everything to go to the Downloads folder automatically, you can make it go somewhere else. In this example I will show you how to change your default download location to your desktop.

First we need to click on the hamburger icon in the top right corner. Then select the Options option.

Firefox - Hamburger Menu- Settings

Next make sure the General sub menu option is selected. You can see it outlined below.

Firefox - Settings - General

Scroll down to the Files and Applications section. Where it says Save files to we will select the Browse... button.

In the window that pops up, navigate to the folder that you would like for your files to be downloaded to, then select ok. I chose to have mine download to the Desktop.

File Explorer - Desktop

Confirm that your new location is showing in the Save files to section.

Firefox - Files and Applications - Desktop

Now when you download files moving forward they will go to this newly selected location. For me I will find these files on my desktop.
